The longest stage of the tour today for the cyclists. I haven’t had quite that long to spin today, but we do seem to be having the same filthy weather as they are in France. I am hoping it will cheer up a bit by the weekend as I am playing in an outdoor concert with Barnes Concert Band on Saturday. If anyone is local and feels like popping along, we will be playing in a marquee at Barnes Fair, on the green near the pond in the centre of Barnes, London, UK. We are playing from 4 til 5.30 but there will be lots of other bits and pieces going on all afternoon, and it’s usually good fun.
I made good progress on my work project during the day, and spun a bit more of my merino/silk while watching the tour this evening. Fortunately I managed to find 5 minutes when it wasn’t raining to take a picture of the progress on bobbin number 3 so far:
Today’s coin is a Gibraltar pound.
I am hopeful that I shall finish this bobbin tomorrow.
It has been rather fun the last couple of days watching them cycle through places I have been to. I am hoping I might recognise a few places when they go down through the Loire region tomorrow too.
I’m missing Barnes Fair again due to a family do 🙁 I do recommend a visit though, the book stand alone is amazing and so much good food from Thai to traditional english teas.
Its a shame you can’t come this year, I missed it last year and am glad I can go this time. A good day out.

Gee, I wish I could come to Barnes to hear you. Still hot here in NYC, but the humidity has broken.
It is a fantastic colour isn’t it! It always cheers me to be working with or wearing lovely colours. I have recently finished knitting two pairs of socks with this yarn, and it was really enjoyable to knit with, I have a bit left over and am hoping it will be enough for some fingerless mitts.
We would love to see you in Barnes if you ever happen to be in the area! We are rehearsing for a couple of outdoor summer concerts at the moment, some fun pieces which hopefully will appeal to people as they sit around and eat their picnics (or perhaps shelter from the rain given the weather we have been having!). Glad to hear the humidity has broken, my sister in NYC who is 8 months pregnant at the moment says it has been not much fun. We had 99% humidity here yesterday which made for a sticky day even though it wasn’t very warm. Today is much better and I have even got some things tidied up in the garden.
