I;ve knitted some in a 4ply shetland type wool and they did wear out faster, but that might be because we only had a few pairs and not dozens, so they had more wear. It is a nice cast on, though I've never tried a 2x2 ribbed tubular, the instructions look daunting! Lovely socks!
